Atari released the Atari Jaguar CD  in September 1995. Atari Jaguar CD  is inserted into the Jaguar modular bay and has a looped through modular bay itself, so that the drive can remain on if you want to play a modular game. The actual drive is a double-speed CD-ROM drive. The Atari Jaguar CDs  can store up to 790 MB of data, the format of the Jaguar CDs is based on that of the audio CDs and cannot be processed by other systems. In addition, developer Jeff Minter's VLM (Virtual Light Machine ) is built in, which creates various effects on the screen when an audio CD is played. That was madeAtari Jaguar CD  from Philips in America, according to Atari the first order of 20,000 pieces was completely sold within a few weeks. According to Atari, another 20,000 units were then ordered from Philips - however, due to Atari's situation at the end of 1995, it is quite possible that this first delivery was the only one.
